Man City fans plan Thaksin protests at Anfield

Manchester City fans will protest against chairman Thaksin Shinawatra over his treatment of Sven Goran Eriksson during today's clash at Liverpool.

The Daily Mail says City supporters will display banners in support of Eriksson and sing anti-Shinawatra songs. A major pro-Eriksson rally is being organised by the official supporters' club at Eastlands next Saturday.

Branches of the official supporters' club have sent letters to City protesting at Eriksson's treatment.

Supporters' club chief Kevin Parker said: "The vast majority of fans are dismayed and disappointed at the seemingly inevitable departure of Sven at the end of the season.

"We encourage City fans to attend a rally at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday to show our support for Sven."
