Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia is in the sights of Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson.
Amelia is available from Livorno this summer and is regarded as the natural heir to Gigi Buffon, the Juventus keeper, in Italy's national team.
Eriksson wants to sign a new keeper and is considering Amelia after being priced out of a deal for Liverpool's £10 million-rated Scott Carson.
