Man City expect bigs things from Swedish prospect Guidetti

John Guidetti has been included in Manchester City's US tour squad.

The 18-year-old had been on loan at Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna after moving to Eastlands from the club in 2008, but he has significantly impressed to be given the opportunity to possibly play in one of City's upcoming friendlies in their tour of the USA.

Whether Guidetti will be given a chance to play alongside the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez is unknown, but his father Mike spoke of his pride at receiving the call-up.

"They have trained for some time and by the end of Thursday they had written on a screen which players that were called up for the games in the US," said Mike Guidetti to Expressen.

"He just stated, "I'm in". It might not sound so humble when he says it like that, taken out of context.

"But he has always set the highest goals and keeps on succeeding. I am really impressed that he continues to put as much work into this as he does, as he must in order to reach what he is aiming for."

Guidetti goes into the squad for the friendlies against Sporting Lisbon, New York Red Bulls, Inter Milan and Mexican club America, with Roberto Mancini reportedly seeing big potential in the striker.

"John is extremely focused and wants to break his own boundaries. This is a team that have the resources to do what Chelsea have done earlier," the player's father added.

"But in a team with players like Tevez and Adebayor it is important to stay humble."
