Manchester City will not try again for Porto midfielder Fernando in the summer.

The Manchester Evening News says he will be scrubbed from City's list of targets after signing a deal aimed at keeping him at Porto until 2017.

The midfielder came close to joining the Blues in the transfer window and would have been available on a free transfer this summer - but his new deal has a buy-out clause of £25m.
