Manchester City have been encouraged in their interest for Real Madrid defender Pepe.

The Sunday Telegraph says Pepe has been told that he can leave Real Madrid this summer, even if the club are publicly insisting he is not for sale.

Incoming Real coach Carlo Ancelotti is prepared for Pepe to go if a fee of about £20 million can be agreed but City will not want to pay that much for a 30-year-old.
