Manchester City will bank a fee if free agent Gareth Barry signs for Everton.
The Manchester Evening News says the 33-year-old was one of the Toffees' star performers last season as they finished fifth in the Premier League.
And even though Barry's City contract expires this summer, City will get £2.5m if he completes the Everton move because of a clause written into his loan deal last summer.
Arsenal, West Ham United and Liverpool have also been linked with the former England international.
