Manchester City will earn a slice of Chelsea's fee from the sale of Danny Sturridge to Liverpool.

The Sun says City will receive a £1.7million cheque from Chelsea when Sturridge completes his £12million move to Liverpool next week.

The former City trainee had a medical on Merseyside yesterday after terms were agreed with Chelsea for the England striker, 23.

The tribunal which ruled on Sturridge's 2009 move to Chelsea ordered them to pay City 15 per cent of any future transfer profit.
