Man City defender Toure may avoid lengthy ban

Manchester City defender Kolo Toure may avoid a lengthy drugs ban.

The Sun says York City Knights rugby league player Matty Duckworth ended up with a six-month ban for inadvertently breaching sporting drug laws.

Duckworth was originally given a two-year ban after testing positive for the stimulant Methylhexaneamine (MHA), which was in a supplement he thought was legal.

But Duckworth, 21, successfully argued on appeal that he made efforts to find out whether the supplement, called Jack3d, was legal and that he was not in any way looking to enhance his performance.

His ban, which was served from September 1 last year to March 1, was cut to six months.

But in a warning to Manchester City star Toure, who allegedly failed his test after taking one of his wife's diet pills, the six months was for not seeking qualified independent advice.
