Manchester City defender Micah Richards has passed his Aston Villa medical.

The Mirror says Richards has passed his medical at Aston Villa ahead of his free transfer.

The England international is leaving Manchester City this summer and is returning to his home city with Tim Sherwood's FA Cup finalists.

He's set for a £55,000-a-week, four-year deal, and is increasingly likely to be handed a centre-back role - where the player himself is keen on establishing his future.
