Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala says he enjoyed his loan last season at Valencia.

Mangala claims that having a season at Valencia, when he played regularly and rebuilt the confidence shattered by the two previous seasons with the Blues.

Asked about his year out in La Liga, Mangala told the Manchester Evening News: “It's normal for any player who can't play all the time.

“Valencia was a good opportunity for me and I had a very good season even if we finished further down than we expected.

“I am back here with more confidence, more experience and to help the team."
