Man City defender Lescott a better player for working with Mancini

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott says he's a better player for working with manager Roberto Mancini.

The £24million man knows there is not room for too many mistakes when you have such a perfectionist as the Italian in charge.

He was appointed in controversial circumstances at the same time Mark Hughes was sacked but has become a firm favourite with the Etihad faithful.

Lescott told The Sun: "Even when we've won 5-1 he's not happy with the goal we conceded. He says it was a gift and that we like to give the other team a present, stuff like that.

"The last couple of league games haven't gone so well for me personally, scoring a goal and then giving away that handball.

"But these things happen and the manager has shown a lot of support for me. If he's not happy with what you are doing in games, he'll show it in training, he'll show where you're going wrong."
