Manchester City want a straight swap for Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given.

Toon are willing to sell Given for £8 million, says the Daily Mail, and City are offering Michael Johnson in exchange.

City rate the England U21 international at £8 million.

City, reported to have made a fresh £5m bid for Given, 32, are understood to be prepared to offer up to £8m.

Kinnear would want Johnson as a makeweight but the Eastlands club value him as highly as Given.
