Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is planning new contract talks with Emile Mpenza before Christmas.
The Belgium international is off contract in June and has attracted interest from Premiership rivals Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Birmingham.
However, Eriksson is confident of securing Mpenza to a new two-year extension.
