Manchester City officials are convinced they will sign Chelsea captain John Terry this summer.
The Daily Star says City are confident they can complete an amazing £40m swoop for Terry.
City have already had a bid of £30m rejected for the England skipper.
They are set to up that to £35m this week, but it will be knocked back by Blues owner Roman Abramovich after he flies to California.
But the fact City, backed by the wealthy Abu Dhabi Group, are continuing to court the 28-year-old is a clear sign they believe they can land the player.
"City are very confident they have got him," revealed an adviser to the Abu Dhabi Group last night.
Terry knows a five-year deal worth a staggering £250,000-a-week is on offer.
