Manchester City No2 David Platt has lost his rag with Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.
City have blasted Redknapp's claim they are trying to buy glory.
Platt said: "You don't get a trophy for spending money, you get a trophy for finishing top of the pile.
"Harry Redknapp has a right to be proud of what he has done. He should still be proud if he finishes second and a point behind us. But we'll be happy as well.
"Where this club was 3½ years ago it was never going to compete for championships. Top teams buy top players.
"If you have the resources to eat at the top table, and you can do it in a two-year spend rather than 10-year, it gets you there quicker." "When I look at this team I see a side that has the desire to win and is full of the ability and capability to win.
