Manchester City are relying on Patrick Vieira to convince Arsenal contract rebel Robin van Persie about a move North. The Daily Star says City are said to be ready to pay him £220,000 a week - close to three times what he is on at the Emirates.

City have a weapon in their pursuit of Van Persie in football development executive Vieira.

The former Arsenal skipper was instrumental in luring Samir Nasri to the club from the Gunners last summer.
