Man City chief Vieira driving deal for St Etienne defender Zouma

Patrick Vieira is driving Manchester City's pursuit of St Etienne defender Kurt Zouma.

The People says City spies have also watched St Etienne centre-half Zouma, 17, four times in the past two months.

Zouma, a France Under-19 international who has been likened to Vieira, the City official who is hopeful of luring him to the Etihad Stadium.

Inter Milan and Juventus are also monitoring the player, whose contract at St Etienne has two-and-a-half years to run.

The French club rate Zouma at around £3.75million.
