Manchester City chief Txiki Begiristain wants to bring Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze to England this summer.
Begiristain, in strategy talks with chief executive Ferran Soriano and manager Roberto Mancini, accepts City need to make several big money signings to make up for the errors of the last summer market.
Kicker says high on City's shopping list is Gotze, whose agent has held talks with Begiristain this month.
Gotze's contract, which runs to 2016, carries a €40 million buyout clause.
