Manchester City chief Ferran Soriano insists he had nothing to do with Cesc Fabregas leaving Barcelona.
Soriano concedes the whole affair left him upset as Cesc joined Chelsea two years ago.
"We have not made any offer for any Barcelona player," he told RAC-1.
"Things are simple: there are times that agents call Barcelona and say they have a received a proposal by City. Afterwards, Barcelona contact us and we tell them that this is not the case.
"With Fabregas, his agent was looking for a club in England. I called Barcelona and warned them that a move could be happening soon. They thanked me and told me they do not want the player to leave.
"A few days later, I find a newspaper cover saying Soriano was in touch about a transfer for Fabregas. I called them and told them I was well, but next time would not warn them."
