Manchester United are set for a clear run at Arsenal contract rebel Robin van Persie. United have been battling Manchester City for the Dutch striker.
But the Daily Mail says City are looking elsewhere with executive Brian Marwood keen on alternatives.
Van Persie also is understood to be reluctant to join a host of former Gunners at The Etihad.
