Manchester City are favourites to land Caen prospect M'Baye Niang.
Niang spent a few days on trial at Arsenal last week but City supremo Brian Marwood has personally approached his French Second Division side for talks.
The 17-year-old, who has already made 30 first-team appearances, is valued at £6million and is seen as a player who could go straight into boss Roberto Mancini's senior squad.
Niang will decide on a move before the transfer window shuts.
