Manchester City executive chairman Garry Cook expects manager Mark Hughes to spend big in January.

"With the trend that has just been developing, you have to assume that Mark will have more money to spend in January," he said.

"He wants to bring better players to the team although it should not be forgotten that we have one of the biggest academies in the League as well."
