Manchester City are facing competition from Juventus for Porto midfielder Fernando. The Daily Star says City are confident of luring him to the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer with the promise of a £140,000-a-week deal.
Fernando, 26, is running down his contract at the Portuguese outfit and has told them he will be leaving at the end of the season.
But it has emerged that Italian giants Juve are also keen on Fernando and want to hijack his proposed move to England.
It is understood Juve chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has held talks with Fernando's representatives in the hope of persuading him to join them instead.
