Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak says the club is happy to count on chief executive Garry Cook.

Khaldoon said that after "a couple of meetings" he recognised Cook's qualities, and ability to handle the reconstruction of City desired by Mansour.

"People make mistakes," he said, of Cook's golfing reference for Thaksin Shinawatra, "but to me there was more good than there were mistakes. Garry was the right person for the job."
