Man City captain Kompany: We're not at Man Utd level - yet

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is adamant there's more to come from the champions.

After winning the 2017-18 title by a landslide, the City captain believes this feels like it is only the beginning.

Kompany, fit and beaming again after his catalogue of injuries, said: “I have been here for 10 years and it's the same feeling.

“I'm cherishing every moment and I am lucky to be part of another era.

“But this is just the beginning. That's the way it feels anyway.

“I'm never realistic with my ambitions but it wasn't realistic back in the day to dream I'd get all these titles. Nobody could have expected it."

However, Kompany still is not convinced there has been a power shift in Manchester.

Kompany added: “I am still saying, 'No'. It is 50-50.

Sir Alex Ferguson – and may he get better and recover soon – created such a big shift when he did 25 years at United.

“So after that, you have to expect there is a period of time where you get back to your feet. It is only normal.

“I still think that any season, if they get it right, it is a 50-50 season between us and them in terms of being the powerhouse in Manchester.

“But I definitely enjoy that there is a lot of balance in this town, more than when I started at City."
