Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany is hopeful of an even bigger Etihad Stadium in the future.
A record crowd of around 54,331 witnessed City's fine 3-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday following the opening of the new tier at the South end of the venue.
Kompany has now revealed that the extra fans inside the stadium certainly made a huge difference to the atmosphere and he is hopeful of further expansion to help create a real fortress.
Kompany said after scoring in the win: "It was madness in the first half – you could sense the extra 7,000 fans, and I can't wait to extend the ground again.
"The fans being brought closer to the pitch also makes a difference it's a place we have always enjoyed playing but now we need to make it a fortress out of the stadium. Everything is there to do it."
