Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini insists Yaya Toure is no diver.

Toure was booked for trying to win a penalty late into victory over Southampton.

Pellegrini said he did not feel the need to speak to his 22-goal midfielder about staying on his feet.

"There's no need," said Pellegrini. "I don't think, with the booking for diving, he was trying to cheat the referee.

"Maybe he didn't have enough power in his feet, a reaction."
