Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has explained ditching Roberto Mancini's strict laws.

The Chilean has wasted no time in abolishing the unpopular rules, opting for a more friendly approach with his big-money squad.

Questioned about his rule changes ahead of City's visit to West Ham on Saturday, Pellegrini said: "I am not comparing now what happened in the past.

"I just manage the group of players the way I think it is the best. It is not the only way. There are a lot of different ways to do it. That is my way."
