Man City boss Pellegrini: Our Champions League group is tough

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is wary of their tough Champions League group for this season's campaign.

City face little-known Czech side Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday, followed by reigning champions Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow. While some consider that a far easier draw than 12 months ago, Pellegrini is having none of it.

"This season will be difficult, I am absolutely sure of that," said Pellegrini, keen to warn his City stars against complacency.

"AC Milan and Zenit St Petersburg were very happy being drawn in the same group as Malaga last season. But if you think that you are going to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League because the other teams are weak, you would be making a very big mistake.

"I think we are playing very difficult teams. Maybe nobody here understands the real power of CSKA Moscow but they are a strong team. We are going to have to play very well to get into the knockout stages. The group we have is not easy."
