New Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he has had two previous chances to take the reins of an English club.
The Chilean, who has arrived at City from Malaga, says he was targeted by the Eastlands club's former owners and was also pursued by Liverpool when he was set to leave Real Madrid in 2010.
"I had twice chances to arrive here before," he said.
"One was to Manchester City but with the other owners, not these owners.
"Liverpool, I was very near, after Real Madrid, to arrive at Liverpool.
"But for different things, it was not the moment. Now it is the right moment with the right club."
