Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has no doubts about the quality of Joe Hart.

Hart makes his 300th appearance for City against Southampton tomorrow with Pellegrini already in no doubt he is the best stopper in the land.

“Joe's had a very good season so far and he has been an important goalkeeper in my three years here," said the Chilean, who dropped Hart in favour of Costel Pantilimon during his first season in charge.

“Maybe he had some problems in the first year," added Pellegrini. “But he reacted well and showed what a good professional he is. I'm very happy for him.

“That was very important for him in that moment. Some players have a bad reaction, but he recognised it and started working very hard. He improved in these three years working with us a lot.

“He is the No.1 goalkeeper in England without any question. And normally, in the rest of the world, you are more recognised if you win things.

“If England win the European Championships, or if we win the Champions League, all our players will be more valued."
