Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is delighted with the early form of Fernando.
When he was asked about the choice of Stevan Jovetic as man of the match for his two-goal display against Liverpool on Monday night, Pellegrini's response was telling.
"The player that scores goals always has an advantage but we had some very high performances," he said.
"Nobody talks too much about Fernando but he has a very important duty in the whole game, and the back four also played very well, as they did at Newcastle."
