Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini urged England to stand by Joe Hart after victory over Everton.
England manager Roy Hodgson watched Hart, acutely aware of the responsibility the City goalkeeper will carry against Montenegro on Friday and Poland four days later which will determine if the national side qualifies for next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
"Joe has to play with England for those two games and he is an important character," said Pellegrini.
"I've talked with him since Bayern. He feels he didn't do well in that game and he knows he was guilty."
