Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier was defended by Manchester City counterpart Roberto Mancini after their FA Cup victory.
Houllier offered no apologies for his weakened team selection for their FA Cup defeat.
"Gerard has more experience," said Mancini, reflecting on the Villa line-up.
"He knows it is impossible to play with the same players every three days.
"I don't have seven or eight players to bring in. If I did, I would do the same."
