Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is chasing Napoli star Edinson Cavani.
The Daily Star Sunday says reports in Italy claim Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini tried to sign Uruguay striker Cavani three months before he took Edin Dzeko to Eastlands in a £27million deal with Wolfsburg.
Mancini already has plenty of firepower in Dzeko, 24, Carlos Tevez, 27, Mario Balotelli, 20, and David Silva, 25.
But there is constant talk City skipper and top scorer Tevez could leave in the summer for Inter Milan or Real Madrid.
Cavani won't come cheap with Napoli sources saying the Serie A side want offers in the region of a crazy £85m.
However, £35m is nearer the mark for Cavani, 24, who has fired in more than 20 goals already this season.
