Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is making a new bid for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez.

The Daily Star Sunday says Mancini is upset that his top midfield target, Italy's Daniele De Rossi, looks set to stay at AS Roma.

So he has now set his sights on Spain's Martinez, 23, a holding midfielder who can also operate as a central defender.

But the fee could be an issue as the buy-out clause in Martinez's Bilbao contract is £32million.
