Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was delighted with victory over Liverpool.
Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure had given them a comfortable half-time lead, before James Milner rounded out the 3-0 result.
After taking just one point from their last two matches Mancini was pleased to return to winning ways.
Victory opened up a gap with rivals Manchester United, who play at Newcastle on Wednesday, but Mancini warned the title race was developing into a three-horse race after Tottenham's win at home to West Brom kept them in the hunt.
"I think United are a strong team but we should think only of trying to win every game if possible and at the end we will see what happens," said Mancini.
"Tottenham are also very close but I hope we stay there (at the top of the table) for a long time.""We were unlucky to lose at Sunderland but tonight I think, even though we had some problems in the second half, it was a good performance," he said.
