Man City boss Mancini: Robinho did not play due to transfer talks
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini confirmed talks with Robinho about a move away.
After defeat to Manchester United last night, Mancini admitted talks are ongoing for Robinho to leave City for either Santos or Sao Paulo on loan but it was by no means certain the Brazilian will be heading out of the Premier League despite his confidence a deal will be struck.
"Robinho spoke with me yesterday," said the Italian.
"It is possible that he will go to play for Santos or another team, so we preferred not to risk him.
"But that is the only reason he was not involved. If he is still here at the end of the transfer window, he can play for us."

Oh but I DO follow them. And I rejoice in their every failing. Of course, Man. Utd don't give me too much joy as they enjoy success now and then. But Manchester City regularly fills me with delight. Even with unlimited funds, they can achieve nothing.
I revel in their failure and seeing their forlorn faces on television. Sometimes, I rewind those scenes over and over, lapping up their utter dejection. I particularly enjoy slow motion replays of the goals that show the arab club's followers' faces at the very moment the ball enters their net. I wish I could actually be there to see them trudging home in the cold with glazed, defeated expressions after the game, but TV is the next best thing.
