Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is chasing Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria.
The Daily Star Sunday says City have been alerted to the Argentina winger's dispute with Real over a new contract.
Di Maria, 24 on Tuesday, is unhappy with his £80,000-a-week deal at the Bernabeu - but the Spanish giants, currently leading La Liga, are reluctant to increase it.
If Di Maria stays in Madrid, boss Jose Mourinho's club would have to pay his former side Benfica an additional £10million next season, based on appearances.
That's on top of the original fee of £25m and Real are considering cashing in on him.
Real claim they have already rejected an offer of £38m from Chelsea.
