Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has opened the door to Carlos Tevez staying next season.

Tevez is expected to start tomorrow night against Manchester United.

Mancini said: "I don't think Carlos will find his best form until next season when he has had pre-season training.

"Maybe this is not the time to talk about the future, but Carlos has two years left on his contract. He is a City player. Carlos is not 100 per cent because it is impossible to be 100 per cent if you haven't played for six months.

"But he is a clever player who uses his experience. He has scored important goals and has done even more than I expected. I just hope he can continue to do this in our last three games because he is a top striker.

"It was a strange situation because he had six months out. I said to Carlos lots of times 'Carlos, apologise'."
