Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is leaning on David Silva to help him land Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

The Sun says Silva, signed for £24million from Valencia last year, is a good friend of Fabregas and a fellow member of the Spain side.

Mancini has had discussions with his 'Special Agent' Silva, 25, over launching a £40m move for Fabregas and asked him to provide any input he can.

Both Barcelona, where midfielder Fabregas played as a junior, and rivals Real Madrid want Fabregas but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is adamant he will not leave.

He said: "We are not interested in selling our best players."

But there is a feeling around the Emirates that it might be time for Fabregas and Arsenal to part company.
