Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini insists he's saddened by Garry Cook's departure.
The former chief executive resigned from his post on Friday.
"I'm very sorry for Garry because I worked with him for 15 months," said Mancini. "We worked well together.
"Of course, sometimes we had problems, but that is normal when you work closely with someone. He worked to help me get these players. Every manager wants good players and we got them.
"I'm very sorry about this sad situation. I will make contact with Garry in the next day or two."
