Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is determined to test Barcelona's resolve over star fullback Daniel Alves.
The Sunday Mirror says Alves is on City's radar, with the world's richest club ready to pay £40 million.
Currently in South Africa with Brazil's World Cup squad, Alves has so far baulked at Barca's attempts to discuss a new contract - which has encouraged City chiefs.
