Man City boss Mancini desperate to win race for Valencia winger Silva

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is desperate to land Valencia winger David Silva.

The Daily Mail says a move for Silva is proving difficult to clinch.

Midfielder Silva is the jewel most wanted by Mancini, but City also expressed an interest in right-sided Hernandez and left winger Juan Mata during face to face talks between chief executive Garry Cook and Valencia president Manuel Llorente.

Real Madrid have long been pursuing Silva, 24, while Barcelona are considering him as an alternative target to Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, and Rafa Benitez would like to take him to Inter Milan.

Reports in Spain claim he would prefer to stay within La Liga and will give Real and Barca the maximum time to show their hand by not considering a move until after the World Cup.
