Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is pleased with the form of his captain Carlos Tevez.

It is clear, though, that Mancini expects even more from City's talisman, at least until fellow forwards Emmanuel Adebayor and Mario Balotelli can lend him some much-needed assistance.

Mancini said: "Tevez is up there with the best of them. He scores in the big matches, he fights against defenders 6ft 4in tall, has got quality and grit. But a great side cannot depend on one player only.

"I made him captain because I want him to improve under all respects. He has the potential and he is improving.

"People talk about him not liking my training but I've only imposed double training sessions for three to four last season. Not once this season. Yet the media go on and on with this."
