Man City boss Mancini confident board behind him

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is confident his job is safe while they remain in contention for the Premier League title.

The shadows of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola continue to loom large over the Premier League.

But Mancini said: "Our target when we started the season was to defend our title, to try to win the Premier League again.

"We knew it would be difficult to win the Champions League and the owner is disappointed that we have not qualified.

"Our target was to get into the second stage of the competition. But for winning things, our target has not changed - we want to win the Premier League again.

"Our aim was to win the Premier League and maybe the FA Cup. If we had qualified in the Champions League, then maybe those targets would have changed in February.

"But we haven't and so our priority is to win the title again."
