City scout Barry Hunter watched Viviano last weekend in action.
Inter are favourites for the keeper, who they see as a long-term successor for Julio Cesar.
However, City boss Mancini wants to bring the Italy international to Eastlands in the summer, having worked closely on landing him as a junior while at Inter.
