Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini must beat former club Inter Milan for goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.
City scout Barry Hunter watched Viviano last weekend in action.
Inter are favourites for the keeper, who they see as a long-term successor for Julio Cesar.
However, City boss Mancini wants to bring the Italy international to Eastlands in the summer, having worked closely on landing him as a junior while at Inter.
