Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is struggling to find a quality centre-half signing.
The Daily Mail says they are still hopeful of signing Kolo Toure but Arsenal appear to have changed their minds after giving City some encouragement.
Similarly, City know they have a problem in securing back-up target Alex, with Chelsea turning down a £20m Real Madrid offer in the summer.
