Manchester City boss Mark Hughes insists he could still make more signings this summer.

Despite concerns over Thaksin Shinawatra's ownership plans, Hughes said: "The game against Celtic was exactly what we needed.

"We have had a decent pre-season; we have had good quality opposition and competitive games as well, and I think we saw the benefits against Celtic.

"I am quite close to my first XI now.

"If good players become available and we have the means to bring them to the club, then we will try and do that.

"We still have time. I've done business right up until the last minute of transfer windows in the past, so it may well be that we will have to do that again."
