Man City boss Hughes stalls Jo deal

Manchester City have stalled their deal for CSKA Moscow striker Jo Alves on new manager Mark Hughes' say-so.

"We tried to slow that one down," executive chairman Garry Cook revealed in The Independent.

"We were moving very quickly and it was important to get Mark to have a strong point of view on what he wanted."

City also expect to have an initial work permit application turned down for the striker, but are confident they will be successful upon appeal.
